We just settled the bill for our oldest daughter’s second year of college, so I thought I’d update you how she’s doing with her goal of graduating debt free.
My husband and I expect our kids to help out around the house, but we don’t pay them an allowance for doing so. That may sound mean to some people, but to us it sounds like a way to teach our kids some responsibility.
My husband and I don’t lose sleep worrying about how we’re going to pay for our kids’ college education because we decided long ago that we’re not footing the bill. That always shocks people when it comes up in conversation, and I’m sure it’ll shock some of you, too. But we truly believe we’re doing the best thing for them and for us.
