Curb Find: Vintage Jars

We were headed home from a yard sale Saturday when my husband suddenly stopped the car and started backing up. I knew he must have seen something good in the curb pile that we’d just passed, but I could only see cardboard boxes from my side of the car. Well, it turns out those boxes were full of vintage jars. There were red JFG peanut butter jars (which I just recently started collecting)
JFG crunchy peanut butter jars.
Peter Pan peanut butter jars.
Jif peanut butter jars.
Kraft Marshmallow Creme jars.
JFG coffee jars.
And even some half-pint freezer jars.
A man came out with more boxes while we were digging through the pile. He said his mother-in-law used to save all her food jars in the attic, and he was happy for us to take them off his hands.
We gave them a good scrub when we got home, and now I’m excited to find uses for them. I think we’ll use some in the kitchen and some to organize craft supplies. I’m especially excited about the JFG jars because they’re a local company, and because they’re stamped “freezer jar” on the bottom. I wish more companies would make an effort to design reusable packaging nowadays.
