Everyone needs an easy homemade biscuit recipe in their repertoire. This is my husband’s.

He’s been making biscuits since he was a kid, and is fond of reminding me that he once won a 4-H biscuit competition. As long as he keeps making me tasty things to eat, I’ll let him brag 🙂

His biscuit recipe really couldn’t be easier. It only requires 6 simple ingredients, and you can have a batch of the dough whipped up and shaped into biscuits in about 5 minutes.

If you’re used to buying canned biscuits because you think biscuits are hard or time-consuming to make, this easy homemade biscuit recipe is going to make you rethink that.

Use the dough to make cut-out biscuits, or use it to make drop biscuits. It’s incredibly versatile.

Tray of Unbaked Biscuits

Then, use a biscuit cutter, or a drinking glass to cut out your biscuits. Place them on a baking sheet.

Tips:

  • If you don’t feel like going to the effort of rolling out dough, make drop biscuits instead. Just use an ice cream scoop or cookie scoop to measure out 3-tablespoon balls of dough, and drop them on the baking sheet. Easy!
  • Arrange the biscuits, so that they’re touching. This will prevent them from spreading out as they bake, and result in taller biscuits.

Bake for 10-11 minutes, or until the tops of your biscuits are golden brown.

Top with jam, jelly or fruit butter, and enjoy, while they’re still warm.
