Re: No Food Waste
It doesn't happen too often, but when I think I have some potatoes that aren't going to get used up in time, I bake them in the oven or the microwave, allow then to cool, then grate them, spread them out on a cookie sheet to freeze, then put them in bags to use up as hash browns later on.

Re: Small, Practical Ways to Save
I am astonished at all you who keep the temperature so high in the summer. I keep it at 74-75 during the day--and am still sometimes too warm when I am cleaning house, etc., and try to get it down to 70 at night in our bedroom. I sleep best when the temperature is in the low 60's, which of course do...

Re: A gift for your future self

I must be somewhere in the middles. I cook--actually cook--nearly all of our meals, and at least twice a week cook for the whole family (8 adults, 3 babies to toddlers). I do a mixture of meat/potatoes/veggies or casserole, Mexican, or Italian entres, but I do tend to cook the same meals over and ov...

Re: I'm skipping 2020
Thanks to all for the condolences. 2020 was a terrible year, but my son's faith is strong. He told me, maybe a month after losing his wife, "I don't understand people who lose their faith when something bad happens. That's the world we live in." We are still grieving, but God is good.

Re: I'm skipping 2020
2020 was, hands down, the worst year of my life. Between DH and me, we lost 10 family members--none of them to COVID--aunts, uncles, cousins, but 3 really hard ones: my mom in April, his dad in May, and our sweet daughter-in-law, 23, in a car accident in June. She and DS2 had just celebrated their 4...
