Re: Daily Check in Jan 10, 2018

Hi all, Super foggy here today. We got LOTS of rain in the night, a good thing, except we were supposed to be getting snow here in the valley... still it was moisture for which I AM grateful. I think we still have 50% chance of snow today, and I'm hoping/praying we get some too. I just accepted a su...

Re: Favorite Frugal Items / Must-Haves

Stuff nobody else has listed: - my sewing machine, an oldie but goodie - gel insoles make all my shoes more comfortable and relieve foot pain. Also the plain foam cushioned insoles. These make the shoes last longer since the inside stays nicer. Shoe polish helps the appearance on the outside. My le...

Re: Favorite Frugal Items / Must-Haves

Some of my must-haves, in no particular order: 1- Fresh fruit... apples, bananas, & oranges - they are snacks for children and part of mine & dh's lunches. Daily check-in January 7, 2018

Am starting us off again, very late (for me) Saturday night. I doubt I'll come post again until Monday. I was asleep then was awakened by ds15's phone call to come pick him up from the school as he bus was there... he had another 2 day wrestling tournament (his last out-of-town one, hurray), this ti...

Re: Need to shorten some sleeves

Oh, thank you! I think I will trim and pin up the hems to 7 inches and then have DS try them on. Short sleeves that hit the elbow crease are annoying, so that's something I'll check for. If you haven't already shortened his sleeves, you could also have him put on his shirt, inside out, then have hi...

Re: Savings by Making Own Bread?

Back before I figured out that regular wheat/gluteny flour made me deathy ill, I used to bake bread about once a week, making 4-5 loaves at a time. I think I figured out that I could make basic bread (no eggs) for $0.55 each because I buy yeast & flour in larger quantities, and more "fancy" bread fo...
