So for exercise I shoveled and went for a walk, being very careful not to step where the grader had compacted the snow into an icy surface.

Cutting more squares out of scraps, I think I could almost be done. That means I can do some embroidery.

My crab cakes for Friday were not a real hit with Hubby. He said they were bland so I have 4 in the freezer and need a way to spice them up a bit. Tartar sauce.....

Last night we had the leftover chicken casserole which I finished off for lunch. We also ate most of the leftover salad (enough for me for lunch tomorrow).

For the first time ever that I can remember I have no potatoes and had no intentions of running out and purchasing any. So tonight along with the roast beef and roasted carrots I am making rice. Also adding rice to the shopping list as a large bag of the kind I like is on sale.

So usual frugal habits happening.

Got our gas bill today for heating the house and thanks to the sunny days and using that good old solar heat through the windows, the cost has dropped a bit.

Almost three loads were hung to dry on the lines downstairs which is awesome. Means we are wearing less and getting better at not washing things that are not really dirty. I can hardly wait to be able to hang things outside.

Using my toaster oven to cook supper, and using up lots of bits and bobs to do so. I love making a whole new meal out of leftovers!!!

No money spent and downloaded the info for all our bills which will be paid tomorrow.

Went shopping and by purchasing mostly on sale items managed to keep our bill down. Looked at some hams and wow the prices on those are absolutely crazy. Don't think we will be having that for awhile.

I think that instead of having a roast meal every Sunday (even though Hubby looks forward to them and the leftovers make quite a few more meals) I am going to mix it up a bit over the next few months.

Bought a few sale items to add to the pantry, and a large cheese which I will shred half of tomorrow or the next day. I might try dusting the shreds with corn starch so they don't stick together.

I put all the allowance that I had left over in my savings envelope. Slowly building up that once again. Hopefully I will be able to do a good stock up on craft supplies, yarn and fabric come the fall. I should have used up a great deal of my stashes by that time. I got paid back for the fabric I purchased for the altar cloths and that money went in the envelope as well.

Otherwise the same usual frugal habits were taking place here.

Did not get the cheese shredded today so I will do that tomorrow.

Clearing out the fridge of all leftovers tonight. I have taken the fat off the beef drippings and will put those drippings in the freezer.

No spending today. Printed off some bills to pay on the 27th and will do so online. Love not having to run all over town to do so.

Sheets are hanging on the lines downstairs and soon the rags will join them. Two loads that I usually would have thrown in the dryer. Saving on electrical usage means cash in my pocket. I will take them down and fold everything tomorrow morning.

Lights out in rooms not in use, temperature of furnace turned down slightly. We can curl up under a quilt or knitted blanket if we are chilled.

Baked bread and that should last us until at least Sunday.

I am collecting the net bags from oranges and the onions and am going to try and make some scrubbies. Wish me luck, I did find some directions online so I am hopeful they work out.

Using bits and bobs up from the fridge and the crisper. I also made my own tartar sauce (well my take at any rate).

Used up another ball of the contrast yarn on my sweater. I may use a second one and some of the last skein as well.

The usual frugal happenings, and a couple of walks for exercise were taken even though the wind is biting.

The last two days have been rinse and repeat, though I did spend some cash today purchasing the two sympathy cards, one for Harvey's Aunt and one for his cousin (their last remaining daughter).

Last night I pulled out the Chickpea Curry and while it wasn't too bad I think it needs something more, it was a bit dry so perhaps some more prepared frozen tomatoes. Hubby didn't really mind it either and I told him we need to eat more plant based meals in the month. We really do eat too much meat even using portion control.

I used up most of another ball of yarn and about half of the skein of the main colour. What is left will be used to knit mitts for the students.

Tonight I used up some of the remaining veggies in the crisper, all that is left in there now is celery.

Gas is up to $1.54.9 a liter now which would work out to $6.19 and a bit an American gallon. Hopefully it goes down a bit by the time I need to fill once again (probably when we get back from the specialist visit).

More decluttering has been done and I plan on doing a bit more this week. Perhaps I can get Hubby started on doing his clothing as well.

To me simplicity goes right along with living a thrifty and frugal life.
