Breakfast had another serving of my ketogenic sausage gravy and some rye bread from Germany bought at Big Lots.I am gluten intolerant and find that I can eat flour products from Germany as well as some other countries in Europe. It is cheaper to buy than gluten free bread made in the US and cheaper than making gf at home. Although I do have the things I need to make gf at home at the times was not in the mood to make any. Lunch the last several days has been spinach quiche made with the odds and ends of cheese from the fridge. Dinner will be homemade BBQ sandwiches making the sauce from scratch and putting all of the odds and ends of meat picked off of various chickens and frozen.. I am thinking of making some buns using white whole wheat flour.. I am able to tolerate that particular American flour and found a quick recipe from King Arthur flour.. I will be poaching the chicken thighs tonight and have thawed out the tikka masala sauce and will make it tonight for dinner tomorrow night. I will serve it with rice and aloo palak tomorrow night for dinner and several nights to come. Aloo palak is a spinach and potato dish and so yummy. I bought a packet at Big Lots and it was very cheap compared to buying the ingredients and making it from scratch.. I bought 2 potatoes yesterday and will use one in the aloo palak to stretch the dish and the yummy flavors.
Did about 10 min of outside weeding this afternoon to prep area for strawberries when they arrive.. I will go out after the sun starts to set later and do more..

I am doing horribly with the No Spend Challenge. I have had to spend for one reason or another every day in May. I am going to try for 2 No Spend Days for the rest of the month.

I made changes in the items I said I was going to make the other day but will make them tomorrow. Time and energy get away from me.

I made the tikka masala chicken for dinner tonight. Used the last of my red onions and tikka masala sauce.. The onion had started to sprout so I stuck the sprout in several sections in a pot of dirt to see if it will grow. Also made my aloo palak with extra potatoes.. both were yummy and cheaper than going to an Indian restaurant. I have enough for several more meals. Dessert was plain yogurt with a tablespoon of blueberry jam. I prefer to sweeten plain yogurt with jam.. The yogurt with fruit in it is too sweet for my taste, even those that are suppose to be sugar free, and it cost a lot more. If you are diabetic 1 tablespoon of jam is equal to one fruit.

Today I did some grocery shopping which was in my budget.. Went to Shop and Save to buy their 1.99 bacon on sale. Could not find it so my aide asked the manager.. She said it had not arrived yet but did tell us we could take two packages from several other brands she had. So we each bought 2 packages for 1.99 each and normally that brand of bacon would have cost 4.00 a package so we did very well. Went to the farm store to buy veggie plants. I only bought a few tomato plants and one bell pepper plant. I did not like the variety so tomorrow will go to a different store to see what they have to offer.

Teddi had a grooming appointment so we dropped him off and then went across the bridge to gas up my car. Gas on our side of the river was 2.90 a gallon and in MO it was 2.65 so I filled my tank instead of just the usual $20.00 a month budget.. Hopefully will save money in the long run..

Last night I put all of the leftover scraps of chicken and bones from the freezer in to my crock pot along with the broth and bones from the two chicken thighs I had cooked. I did not poach the thighs since I thought it would be more frugal to use more water to make broth for soup. Janet Alliesmama

I think you were smart to fill your gas tank, Janet. Wow, what a difference in price. It is $2.79 here. I always remember that when Becky posted gas prices her area was the cheapest. They say gas is going to continue going up because of Iran. I had a friend in D.C. who was Iranian so I feel for the Iranian people.

I worked with a Dr from Iran. He and his family were Christians and he said life was not easy there due to that and that is why he left. I have not seen him in years but he was trying to get his mother our of Iran due to the persecution she was experiencing. I also had a student from Iran doing her clinical training with us. She was a delightful person and a Muslim.. She said the radical Iranian clerics made their lives miserable. I feel sorry for the Iranian people they are victims and have little choices in their lives. Janet Alliesmama

I was thinking with all going on with Iran that I never knew if my friend was Muslim or Christian. She was a co-worker so not a close friend. Her family fled Iran to Germany when the Shah fell. She is actually a close friend of the Shah’s son’s wife because they grew up together and now also live in the D.C. area. My company sponsored her to get her Green card when she worked for us and she was a college student on an educational visa.
