I will continue to work on moving my plants or planting them. It took 3 days to plant my tree. One day to dig the hole. One day to rest the knee and then I was able to plant it the next day. Yesterday, I moved many little plants and planted many of them. My knee hurt last night and I wrapped it and took a mild sleeping pill to counter the ache.

Rain from Dorian is predicted here today. However, Dorian has not moved off the Bahama islands and is weakening, so we will see how the day proceeds. Tomorrow should be a good day to do laundry to dry on the clothes line.

Today, the new grocery store ads come out. I bought a lot of fresh vegetables last weekend in case, Dorian did come west and flood the food supply center for my section of the state. It hit that city in 2017 with Irma and food was hard to come by for several weeks. Hubs is a diabetic. Most non perishable foods are not acceptable. I will be freezing some of the green peppers to use with ground beef at a later time. The pepper mix from the Dollar tree is no longer acceptable. I am preparing to get another roll of ground beef out of the freezer to thaw. If the ads are great, I may do a bit of restocking. If not, no problem. A roll of ground beef lasts about a week. Usually there is something great over 2 weeks.

I am so happy with the kitchen planner. She is a gem. She found an ADA compliant sink. The sink needs to be shallower than usual and the drains need to be at the back. Do I keep the old sink or get rid of it? I will have to think on it. Nothing is ordered at this time, but the design is complete. Now comes the official measurements that will determine the actual situation. After that, I start ordering and pay the money. ADA is custom and it will be expensive. An estimated $14k. But it is the right choice. Frugal means saving where you can and spending when it is a better decision.

If I had a garden I would keep the sink to use outside with a bucket to catch the water and I could rinse the dirt off of things outside with a bucket of water instead of dragging them in to the house to clean. Could you use it outside to clean tools or other things that might be dirty that would be easier for you to soak in a sink?

Janet, you are absolutely right on the sink. If I can save water, I do. People generally don't appreciate water until they don't have it. I try to appreciate everything. I also try to remain grateful for everything as well. These days there are so many with a dark spot of hate in their heart. I don't want to be like them.

Wednesday am

I had to take yesterday off. The knee was very unhappy. I cancelled walking this morning because of it. Fortunately, I woke up feeling pretty good. I did ultrasound treatment on it and wrapped it last night. However, I did consider ice, but the ultrasound worked well. Today, I will continue working in the yard gently.

The grocery store ads are out for the week. The excellent roast meat is on sale again at Winn-Dixie. $2.99/lb. low fat, low gristle. I had a little one left in the freezer. I was prepared to get it out. Now I don't have to prepare it. Also salmon is on sale and it is about time for a fish meal or two. I will think on it. I have a roll of ground beef thawing in the refrigerator. I am out of ground beef patties. Time to make more. The day I slow cook the roast is also the day I cook a batch of dry beans. It is coming.

Thanks to the rain bands from Dorian, my rain barrels are full. I used one to wash the kitchen garbage pail. The pail is a recycled container from the grocery store. I got them free from the bakery people. I have quite a few. They last several years outside and longer inside. I now generate one small, grocery size bag of garbage every 4 days. That is when we get garbage pickup. We are supposed to go without rain for several days now. That will be ok. I want to do laundry and line dry.

Now that the hurricane is no longer a threat, I can put my bulk food nut meats back into easy to use containers. I had washed them in case I needed more water storage. I also washed my saved pickle jars and other jars in case. No way was I going to run to the store for water.

Wednesday evening

the county has dug out my ditches. They are now much deeper than I could do. I am happy about it. I wish I could have kept the soil.

It appears that my knee held out pretty good today. I did work in the yard and actually accomplished a lot. Also the official measurement says I can have a vertical spice rack right next to the stove. Sweet. A lot of electrical upgrades. Ouch.

Tomorrow more work in the yard.

Thursday am

A new day. I had hoped to do laundry today, but I don't have a full load, so it will have to wait. Oh well. Hubs has scripts for me to pickup, but none are urgent. I don't need anything from Walmart Market which is next door to the drug store. So I can wait a day or more. Winn-dixie has a great sale and I just got a digital coupon to activate to save an additional $5. I am fortunate to be able to buy in bulk and a freezer to carry me through. I will need to go there before Sunday. I will buy beef roasts, a pound of fresh salmon on sale(one meal), fresh vegetables and cottage cheese if they have hubs favorite. The roll of ground beef is thawed in the refrigerator and will be dinner tonight. Probably Mexican with green pepper strips and canned tomatoes with jalapeños. The rest of the roll will be made into patties and frozen.

I am able to work in the yard again. But I am out of shape sitting around nursing this knee. And we have a heat advisory today. So I will need to be careful not to overdo.

I do not expect a call from the kitchen designer for several days. So I have penciled in mid next week for her. I have a dental filling next week as well. But the pest people and the yard guy are tomorrow.

I am happy that I have reduced my garbage to one small grocery bag per pickup. By buying more vegetables fresh and not bagged in plastic bags, I will eliminate even more trash waste. All my vegetable scraps go to my worm towers. I talked to the county extension agent the other day about their reduced functioning. She says I need to go ahead and dump them and refresh with new material. She also gave me a lead on black solider fly larvae which I think are better composter than worms. My crop of them did not survive hurricane Irma.

I am dumping all my little pots into several very large pots. A lot of pots filled with weeds while I was wheelchair bound. I am shaking the soil out of them and throwing away the root mass. It looks like my 2 recycled huge garbage cans that I filled with leaves and some green weeds has become rich dirt. I have a lot of great dirt right now. People throw away these cans because they get holes in the bottom or lose their wheels. Just a "rag picker" at heart. Learned it from my grandmother.

Sometimes I wonder why some so called frugal people are mad at me which makes me sad. But then I realize that their angry and mean comments really mean that they are envious of me and want me to feel bad about my "extreme" frugality. There is a lot of this insecurity in our society right now. It is very unhealthy. I also have been doing some mental discussion about trying to impress my kids. They are not frugal like me. Still tussling with that.
