Use up the Fabric Stash Challenge
Re: Use up the Fabric Stash Challenge
Second quilt top was completed Sunday afternoon. Used up still more strps. I have started pinning strips together for the third quilt. I will start doing that one tomorrow afternoon and hopefully finish it on Friday. More bits and bobs of fabric being made into something useful.

Re: Use up the Fabric Stash Challenge
In order to make this third quilt top the right size I needed to find some more fabric containing greens. Searched my stash and found two small pieces of fabric with greens (actually pretty solid green) and cut them into strips. Now I have enough to make this quilt the right length.

Green strips all gone. Even the funny sized ones. The finished quilt is kind of funky looking, but I like it.
Today I start on the last of the strips and hope to finish this more straight forward quilt by late today or early tomorrow.

Re: Use up the Fabric Stash Challenge
Finished the quilt top awhile back. The brown, yellow and orange strips are gone now.
I have a few cream, blue and black strips left which will be perfect for making the bindings down the road a bit.
I cut out a dress yesterday from fabric I have had for at least a year. I will be cutting out the second selection of fabric today. That second selection is probably 4 years old if not older. Just not sure if I like the pattern I have chosen to use with it.
I did use up quite a chunk of the white felt I had. The remainder will be folded and used to make labels when necessary.

Cut out some culottes yesterday instead of the second dress. I need to think on that one a bit more. Folded and put the leftover fabric in the storage drawer. While I didn't use all the fabric I used a good portion of it on the culottes.
Tomorrow I start to sew again, and perhaps if I get these patterns sewn up quickly a couple pairs of shorts (I don't really have many of those) can be cut out and sewn. I will still think on which pattern to use the other fabric on.

Re: Use up the Fabric Stash Challenge
I went with knit bodice/cotton skirt dresses for girls' Easter dresses as I had no patience for fancier dresses.gaylejackson2 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 12:56 pm The summer dresses will be made from one of the many pieces of fabric (or two or three) I already have in my stash, and also using patterns I've been accumulating for years.
I also hope to make simple (hopefully dark-colored, depending on what the stash has) shorts for my girls. I do NOT like the short length of shorts available for girls, they bring to mind Daisy Duke's from Dukes of Hazard, and those seem Very Immodest and Inappropriate for 6 and 8 year old girls (and any age up to 20 as well ).
I also found A LOT of Large double-knit remnants that I'll be using for my girls' shorts, and maybe a 1-2 pairs of sleep pants for ds11. A very large piece of teal/green I may make me a new skirt with.
I have remembered that I need to make nightgowns for my girls too (they love long flannel nighties, even in summer), and I have 4-5 yards just for that project. I just need to cut, then sew... the biggest issue is finding the time in between working, baseball/softballs practices & games, and getting my veggie garden going.
