Daily Check in June 2, 2021

Good Morning,
Happy belated birthday to Penny and Happy Birthday to Clem. I too had a bell go off in my head when Penny mentioned her birthday, thinking, remembering someone else's was the same time.

The sewing machine repairman called. Did not know much about my machine, but he says he got the tension adjusted and cleaner it and it is sewing ok, but he could not seem to get the correct stitches to come up. He said he thinks there is an issue with the electronic board. I will get it home and play with it and see if I can get decorative stitches to work. He mentioned he did not have a book for it. I thought "can't you look it up on the internet, but he sounded like a guy who, while good at sewing machines, may not be adept at searching the internet. I will pick it up Saturday.

Otherwise, not much happening here. I did get my background application sent yesterday. Tomorrow I will give blood. No after work plans for today. "Hello quilt" I need to finish it.

Have a great day,
Maggie

Well. Hard to believe I'm the second person posting nut my schedule these days seems to be asleep a little after ten and up by six or so. Totally different than my years of nightowlishnwss but I am in the groove and waiting for my half hour post thyroid pill for my cold caffeine.

Today I am letting my large kitchen aid go. Used exactly once since moving so that I could make 20 dozen decorated sugar cookies. I think my portable snd blender and immersion stick will cover the difference. Only sold it for 100 but it's for a young friend who has just started baking with her girls.

Today I will go to daughter's to do laundry this afternoon not sure what's on the agenda this morning still have to wake up but sewing and patio time will be involved.

Good morning fellow frugalites,

So I am going to get my frustrations out now before I burst. I have been busy trying (every day, multiple times a day) to get Hubby his appointment for a second shot....no luck so far. No walk in clinics even open in my general area. Today I go online to try this morning and low and behold my age group is up and can get their shots..... What the heck, there is not enough vaccine around this province to even get the people in the age groups above their second shot!!!! I am beyond frustrated at this moment in time.

Now that is off my chest on to better and more frugal things.

Pretty much the entire garden is up except for the cucumbers. Hubby is a bit worried about them and even went searching for ready started plants yesterday. He had no luck though and is thinking about replanting seed. Looks like my perennial bed is coming along nicely and the potted plants look fine, except for the one my Hubby managed to kill putting up a decorative lattice, and one of my basil plants that might have got a touch too much cold.

The gladioli that I planted in large pots have not started to poke through as of yet, but those in the perennial bed are poking through wonderfully. Today I use water and do the potted plants as well as the perennial bed. Then I get started weeding that bed and along the side of the house. I can see what most of my afternoon will consist of.

We also take the vehicle in for an oil change right after lunch. Hopefully it is done quickly and we can get. I think this oil change is free and I do hope they don't find something like an air filter that needs replacing and we need to pay for.

Then of course there are the chores necessary for the smooth running of the old homestead. I need to dust (again, where does it all come from), cook meals, and do some of the cleaning I only manage to get to once a month (fans, doors, and chair rail downstairs today).

Pants are cut and need to be hemmed for my friend's father. Keeping my fingers crossed that they go well. She said they were sweat pants, but they are not. Instead her sister picked up knit pj bottoms. Have I ever said how much I hate hemming/shortening cheap knit fabric. I am actually hoping to get 2 of the 3 pairs done today, or at least get the one sewn, the second cut off and ready to sew.

The weekly fliers will be in the mail as well as online so I will be making my shopping list up for tomorrow.

In between all that I wait for the call from the second specialist (oncology), do some cross stitch and try and get appointments for our second jabs. Sighs, seems like it never ends.

Supper tonight is going to be some leftover pork from the fridge freezer. Considering how hot it is going to get today I really do not want to be cooking too much so this will more than likely be warmed up on top of the stove made into some kind of hash type meal. Served with asparagus (bought a huge bag) and it should be more than enough for the two of us.

Today I am grateful that I get up early most mornings lately and can take advantage of the cooler temperatures to do some weeding, watering or other such outside work.

Everybody have a great day. Take care.

Good morning all!

Woke up to a beautiful sunny birthday morning!! And I slept well. Only had to get up once.

So glad I am feeling good today. My plan is to just stay home and contemplate the next year! I was asked if I wanted to go out for dinner but I said maybe next week. I like to celebrate all month.

I've received a couple of cards from family with a little "taco money" as I call it. We trade back and forth like that - not the same cash - lol. I started it because my oldest sister that lives in the city goes out to eat twice a day. They do not cook at all. So I sent her some money for her birthday a while back to get herself some tacos! Sometimes if I remember I throw in a lottery ticket.

Well I've had my first cup of coffee. Some of the pack has been out and now they are back asleep.

One wish i have is for the grass to be finally dry enough to cut! Its a jungle out there.

Have a great day
