Frugal Thought for June 9, 2021

Post by Jackielou »

“Frugality may be termed the daughter of Prudence, the sister of Temperance, and the parent of Liberty.” – Samuel Johnson

I don't know about you all, but after hearing how many of my retired friends are having trouble with their finances now, I am so glad that we were (make that I) was frugal during most of our marriage. By saving all that I could, we live very well now. By continuing to be frugal we are able to travel (well once borders open again), buy items that we need to replace, pay cash for our new vehicles, and help our children. So in my life yes, frugality was in fact the parent of Liberty.

I agree. My mom and dad never earned a lot were very frugal - too frugal in many ways in my book - but I never had to worry about their finances in their old age.

I have mostly been frugal, although I had my periods of spending too much, and I’m reaping the benefits now.
