Daily Check In November 26, 2021

Post by HappyDaze »

Good Morning Friends,
Happy Day After Thanksgiving. I am staying put today - no black Friday shopping - ever. Thanksgiving went about like I expected - my nephew was higher than a kite and my sister kept trying to get my daughter isolated from everyone else and "whisper whisper" - probably trying to get her to do a day at a casino or something equally stupid. We didn't stay long - I ended up telling my mother and brother what was going on and that I had to get my daughter OUT of there.

i have already determined we will be staying at home for Christmas - no time or patience for all the drama. I am cold and tired - getting another cup of coffee and taking it to my room, maybe watch a holiday movie. Hope you all have a good day.

Good morning fellow frugalites,

Warming up nicely here once again, so more than likely my aches and pains will cease and I will be pain free until the next bout of cold weather hits.

I have a fairly busy day today. I will pay bills online after visiting with all of you for a bit, do a quick clean of the living room, and dust. Then it is off to the bank, and shopping. Lots of shopping to do and many places to travel to. I have a feeling that some stores will be packed as Canada has now entered a kind of "Black Friday" shopping spree following our southern neighbours. It isn't really as large here and this year I have kind of noticed a trend towards our Boxing Day shopping idea. Canadian Tire had two weeks of Black Friday shopping this year and I am pretty sure some of our other larger retailers had the same thing going on. I actually think I should have went shopping yesterday and missed all this, but I did not want to go a day earlier.

I am also going to stop in and get my phone contract renewed (a bit early, but who cares), pick up a few things at the bulk foods place, and perhaps make a quick stop at the Dollar Store (saw a cute idea for a decoration that can be used on a tree or perhaps a counter). Then home and put all away.

The putting away and scanning takes awhile. so I probably will not be cutting out the pj bottoms until later in the day never mind sewing them together. Still I hope to get them done and some new decorations started this afternoon.

Supper tonight is simple. I have a tray of Eggplant Parma that is going to be cooked up. Just pull it out of the fridge freezer, let it thaw a bit and throw it in the oven. I think I will make a salad to go along with it.

Today I am grateful for the warming trend.

Everybody have a great day. Take care.

Ohhh, forgot to tell you all that youngest DS is looking into buying a house. Just a tiny two bedroom one but the yard has been lovingly looked after and there is gorgeous landscaping. He will be talking to the bank on Saturday to see what kind of mortgage he can get, and then make an appointment to take a look at the house. Hubby and I are keeping our fingers crossed for him. I believe it is time he got out of that apartment and into a place where he can stretch out. Hubby just says "Hey we can have a bedroom of our own when we visit." LOL

How do you send a saved draft? I can only seem to edit it.

Good morning beautiful people,

Ownedbydogs - I hope you are feeling better and glad that you had some Thanksgiving food brought over to your house. And Clem I do love pecan pie, despite the fact that it’s about as indulgent as you can imagine. Kind of like our Canadian equivalent of butter tart squares. Originally came about because of the availability of the ingredients. People worked so hard back then, that they probably needed something rich to sustain themselves with.

Dh wore his CPAP the whole night with the full facial mask and definitely slept better. Best of all so did I! No more snorting in my ear or loud snoring. I did have to put a pillow by my head so I couldn’t feel the cold blast of air from the machine. Normally it takes awhile to get adjusted. His sleep apnea was diagnosed as severe so I am glad it seems to be beneficial.

Today it’s very cold so I am not sure how long my walk will be today. I am planning to go to a new indoor shopping area which has booths of local artisans and restaurants. It’s been open for over three weeks, I’ve heard it’s very nice so it will make a fun outing. We won’t be eating anything but it will be fun to wander around. I also plan to go to PetSmart to get Kitty her Christmas gift , 40% off the regular price for her cat food. Dd2 will be happy, as it’s her cat.

Hopefully I will get the Christmas cards started and a bathroom clean, thinking of the ensuite. I was lucky with my Shingrix vaccine, no adverse side effects apart from a stiff arm and feeling tired the next day.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Hello friends.

No Black Friday for me. I wonder if stores will have the crowds they’ve had in previous years.

I had a good Thanksgiving but felt sad at times. I put up my tree and will do the lights (which I dread) over the next few days. Pippi spent much of the evening and night on the Christmas tree skirt and she’s there now.

I switched out mom’s wreath for my wreath. A few years ago I made a beautiful red tartan bow for my wreath. But my front door is now burgundy and I just didn’t like it. I started looking at ribbon online but then thought of mom’s wreath which has a light gold bow and gold accents. I have a gold wreath hanger. So when I went to mom’s house yesterday afternoon to put the empty tree bins in the garage and put out the two bags of yard debris from the other day, I took the wreath off mom’s door. It looks SO much better at my house. I think my wreath will look good on mom’s door which is light grey.

Last night I gathered all my fall decor and will put it away today. I’ve started putting out a bit of my Christmas decor but will do it over the next few days.

Pippi had a good day yesterday. Today she seems very quiet and is not eating as well but still OK I think. Her appointment is this afternoon. Apart from the appointment, I’m planning to stay home.

I have to say that we are having wonderful weather, sunny in the 70s.

Have a good day.
