Good morning all

We are supposed to have a cold front come through this weekend - 80 degrees!

Had a good meal yesterday. We basically sat and let niece vent about school. She takes on a lot. Had a couple of adult beverages - margaritas.

Anyway when I get home, get a call from sibling to get her some food she ordered from the drive-thru. The COD took me and I was mad cuz she should not be eating that junk. I told her I was no longer going to do that.

Anyway here we are.

I have always been curious ... are your buns that you speak of the same as what I call cinnamon rolls? Yeast sweet dough rolled and spread with butter and cinnamon sugar? Baked and glazed? I am always wondering if they can be prepped to the raising stage and then frozen for later baking and using. I have baked and then frozen but to me not the greatest.
For the life of me I cannot seem to get motivated this morning, I think it might be the wet dreary weather, but I will keep trying. :?
I have done laundry but other than drinking coffee and taking care of pets thats about it so far.
I need to get my mermaid seafood salad started. It isn't even difficult just no mo-jo.

The buns I am making today are just regular dinner buns, at the request of youngest DS. He would like some to take home.

I have never tried freezing the dough when I make cinnamon buns, but know a few that do so. They do take it to the final rising stage and then freeze. It does seem to work.

Kitty, it is great to hear from you. I should send you my dogs for boot camp: Lily Dog has taught them all how to pitch a fit for treats. Last night we had remedial lessons in Hush and Lie Down because they were driving me crazy.

Sheila, the website for your state's department of motor vehicles may have information on what you need to do to sell the car yourself.

Staying out late Thursday took it out of me. I had my little nap at lunch Friday, came home early and napped until suppertime, then read a while, went to bed early and did not get up until 9 this morning. Methinks I could be getting old.

Today I have chores: laundry, housecleaning, grocery shopping. Must drop off those bags of non-perishable food from the dorm kitchen at the food bank collection site. There's some sewing to do for DS as well.

Off to get started. Hope you all have a great day.

Hello all -- I've enjoyed reading your posts so far.

I'd forgotten how much I loved that show. They've brought back all the main characters.
Patty, I just discovered FreeVee this week. It looks like there are a lot of good
shows available there.

It woke the dogs up who in turn woke me up. I will probably need a nap
later today as I am already tired. I didn't sleep well last night.
A storm went through here last night. I'm thinking I may need a nap
today, too, since I didn't go to bed until the worst of the storm
was over and I had to get up early to go to my produce co-op pickup.
Jackielou wrote: Sat May 21, 2022 9:27 am Good morning fellow frugalites,

Today I have some baking to do. Cookies and buns I think. Both are fairly
easy to make and not too time consuming.

...

Frugally no money will be spent again today. I will be walking for exercise as usual
(only did just over 10k steps yesterday). All meals will be prepared at home with
what is on hand.
Jackie, I have some baking to do as well. I have four very dark bananas sitting on
my counter and the co-op basket this morning had 8 more bananas in it. I'll probably
make just plain banana muffins with walnuts. I had thought about making chocolate
muffins with them, but hubby said he'd prefer plain ones. Maybe I'll dig out some
bananas from the freezer and make both!

I need to be walking for exercise. I just hate to sweat, so every time I
think "I should go for a walk", I tell myself "No, it's just too hot out there."

Kitty, I'm interested in your mermaid seafood salad. Have you posted the recipe
here?

Mackie, I NEED to know how to teach "Hush". My miniature schnauzer is a yappy dog
and it definitely drives me crazy.

And now a post to share my plans for the day. These are plans only, so by the end of the day, things may have changed.

I woke up early today because it was pickup day for our local produce co-op. I was out of the house by 7:30 to get down to the pickup location by 8am. I was very pleased with this week's contents: potatoes, celery, plum tomatoes, mushrooms, corn, romaine lettuce, apples, bananas, strawberries, limes, and avocados. I'm definitely going to make a pot of guacamole with the avocados, limes, and tomatoes and add in some cilantro and green onions that are in the fridge. I haven't made plans for any of the rest, though the corn and mushrooms will definitely appear in meals this week. I'm also going to be making salads from the romaine and tomatoes.

As I mentioned above, I need to cook up some very dark bananas into muffins. I hate to waste food! It's taken me a long time to teach hubby that he's not to throw away bananas when they get spots on them. Now that he's cooperating, I have to get the muffins made.

I put the majority of the produce into a vinegar-water bath when I got home and then set them to drying. I'll slice the strawberries and sugar them so we can top ice cream for dessert tonight. I might even make a quick cake while the oven is still hot from the banana muffins.

We're having sandwiches for lunch with fresh fruit -- I have honeydew and pineapple from last week's co-op basket cut up in the fridge. Supper will be leftover chicken enchiladas taken from the freezer and that guacamole I mentioned above. Since I have some rice in the fridge, I may add some onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes to make a "Mexican" style rice.

For the afternoon, I'm seriously thinking about dealing with an old/torn sheet set. I recently retired a sheet set that had developed a number of rips/tears. One idea is to cut the sheet up into roughly 12x12 squares and turn a quick hem on the sewing machine. These can then be used for napkins or as replacements for paper towels. They could also be used for embroidery practice for the granddaughter.

Good afternoon!

High 70s and getting bit cloudy ... thunderstorms on the way. Maybe we'll get the garden in before the end of the month, LOL!

Odd thing this past week. My car refused to start when we were at the farm store (on the other side of town). We got a jump and made it home. DH took it to that big-box store to get the battery checked/or replaced after work. Nope: Not taking any more cars for the day. (He went to an auto parts store that tested the battery ... said it was fine. Car starts and runs like normal now, so not sure what happened.

My family doc thinks I'm having another round of hip bursitis. He put me on a prescription anti-inflammatory and ordered a physical therapy consult. I suspect he'll end up referring me to a specialist, but we have to get the first steps out of the way ...

Just back from the grocery ... usual stuff, higher prices, empty shelves in some areas. Fortunately, I didn't need a lot.

Jackie, glad your DS got to come home for a bit!

See some of you have some baking ahead ... I need to turn the leftover ham broth into some bean soup!
