Removing sticky residue from an iron

Post by Grannysewstoys »

I was using press on interfacing and didn’t realize I had the wrong side up.

I got the glue on my iron.

I didn’t have any iron cleaner anymore, I mentioned this to my sister she told me about dryer sheets. So I asked a friend for one. I lent her a flashlight until she can get more batteries

Thanks for the tip Penny!

I often use Heat and Bond and the glue will sometimes melt out if I am using small pieces for like and applique.

My grandmother would use a hot iron and a brown paper bag and salt to get starch off of the iron.

I don't know if this will work with sticky glue but for like stickers and such which has adhesive, I often use rubbing alcohol wipes to wipe it off. Usually, it works for sticky stuff for me so try that as well. I always had some in my pocket left at the end of the day when I used to work. They also come in handy when a marker or pen ink goes through my clothes pocket and I would use that to absorb the ink and erase it and then launder it. It even works on sharpies!
