Owned, I am so sorry. Let's just hope he really had a vasectomy and it was fully working before he met the baby's mom. You have got to wonder about the logic of some people!

I take the generic of Mobic, a prescription anti-inflammatory drug, and also use Voltaren gel, a topical anti-inflammatory, as needed. Never saw any improvement with supplements, although some people do.

My family doctor is also cheerleading me losing weight, as every pound of excess weight puts 9 pounds of impact on arthritic knees. I have lost 15 pounds since May. Good, supportive shoes also make a difference, I have noticed, as my job frequently requires a lot of walking. When my shoes are wearing out, my knees hurt a lot worse.

Quilter does water exercises, which are great for bad hips, especially in a heated pool.
Thanks, Mackie!
I hear you on the losing weight ... I needed to anyway, so now I have another reason to get cracking. My family doc said there's no guarantee that supplements will work, but there's no harm in trying. And thanks for the reminder about Voltaren gel ... I understand it won't help much with a hip joint (too much fat and muscle to penetrate), but it does do pretty well on sore spots.

The gel does help a lot with soft tissue sore spots. I still have bursitis around my right knee from injuring it badly about 12 years ago, and it helps with that. I also used it with a flare up of plantar fasciitis.

I walk in a pool wish shoes and it helps immensly however, it's not considered weight bearing exercise in terms of osteo porosis and such. I wear really really good shoes (asics or sas in my case, I rarely even do clarks any more. I also heat before exercise and cool afterward.
My Medicare supplement gets me a membership at the Y (though I have to check on whether it's free or discounted). I know they have a walking track, which would be nice come winter (or when it's 90+ degrees). They do seem to have some Silver Sneakers classes as well as an aquatic mobility class, so I need to gather more information.

See if your "Y" has a water exercises program. They really help a lot with arthritis.
