We will sit and have another talk a bit later and perhaps when we are up in the city for my specialist appointment have another talk and a trip around to see what various places cost. He joked about moving in with youngest son. Son does have a rather large and unfinished for the most part basement.
I do think your talk is really important because my sister's denial of her husband's illness only made it worse on her. It's good to have a plan in place than not.

I, myself, have already found an assisted living facility should I need help as I age, but hope that a nursing home won't be necessary. Being on my own I need to consider what I will need to do when I can no longer get up and down the stairs easily. I've also got a help agency in mind should I need help with housework, cooking and cleaning and all this despite the fact of the longevity in my family (9 living to 84 and older on both sides of the family). I just turned 76 last month.

We had a combo of thunder, lightning, and... all I can think of that's properly descriptive is "frozen BBs of water." It wasn't sleet, it wasn't hail. Solid rain? DS went out to get some, if it didn't melt it would have made beautiful "gravel" for the bottom of a fish tank. Clear round frozen balls.

Everywhere. Even the guys in the big trucks had a time today, one of our neighbors is stuck at the bottom of his driveway, he thought he was leaving and didn't get far, then couldn't get back up the driveway. The mail carriers, Amazon, UPS, etc., didn't make their rounds today. Even the dog will only go out if you force the issue (forcing the issue = DH going out; she'll go anywhere if he's there first, LOL). They've already cancelled everything for tomorrow, too.

Cool having both kids home for the day. DD will have to decide about work tomorrow.... who would put in a grocery order? If you do that, you have to go risk your life to pick it up! :?

Shingles are still...shingling. Horrible feeling. Couldn't sleep last night. Every nerve on one side is just on constant "bzzzz..." Wild stuff. Makes me just a little testy when people do silly things, and some of the clients I deal with at work are silly; they fail to think things through then they're surprised at outcomes. I'm not being snappy (though I think those thoughts)
Your precipitation may have been Graupel - Graupel, also called soft hail, hominy snow, or snow pellets, is precipitation that forms when supercooled water droplets in air are collected and freeze on falling snowflakes, forming 2–5 mm balls of crisp, opaque rime. Graupel is distinct from hail and ice pellets, in regards to their formation and appearance
