We had a combo of thunder, lightning, and... all I can think of that's properly descriptive is "frozen BBs of water." It wasn't sleet, it wasn't hail. Solid rain? DS went out to get some, if it didn't melt it would have made beautiful "gravel" for the bottom of a fish tank. Clear round frozen balls.

Everywhere. Even the guys in the big trucks had a time today, one of our neighbors is stuck at the bottom of his driveway, he thought he was leaving and didn't get far, then couldn't get back up the driveway. The mail carriers, Amazon, UPS, etc., didn't make their rounds today. Even the dog will only go out if you force the issue (forcing the issue = DH going out; she'll go anywhere if he's there first, LOL). They've already cancelled everything for tomorrow, too.

Cool having both kids home for the day. DD will have to decide about work tomorrow.... who would put in a grocery order? If you do that, you have to go risk your life to pick it up! :?

Shingles are still...shingling. Horrible feeling. Couldn't sleep last night. Every nerve on one side is just on constant "bzzzz..." Wild stuff. Makes me just a little testy when people do silly things, and some of the clients I deal with at work are silly; they fail to think things through then they're surprised at outcomes. I'm not being snappy (though I think those thoughts)
You certainly have extreme weather in Oklahoma. In the summer it can get blazing hot - much hotter than here in Florida. And in the winter you get snow, ice, “frozen balls,” thunder, lightning and cold.

Hope your shingles start going away.

OMG - yes. I lived in Oklahoma for five years. I thought Texas got hot - Oklahoma was a different type of heat.

But it was also very nice. People were so nice. My friends get mad at me when I mention that I had the best veterinarian there, the best pet groomer, the best mani/pedi, great food! They tell me to move back -

Well,I went to the doctor today. I have a sinus infection, bronchitis, and pleurisy (that is extremely painful). He said I am not likely contagious and can keep working. He prescribed a Z-Pak, Prednisone (much stronger dosage this time), a different rescue inhaler and plenty of clear liquids and rest.

Now how I'm supposed to get plenty of rest while working is anybody's guess but I'll try, lol. I started to tell my boss that I thought only "old people" got pleurisy - then - OOPS - I figured I must be old. He said he thought that was a disease from the 1800's that didn't exist anymore.
Sheila,

I had about 5-6 years of alternating between bronchitis and pleurisy. Holy SMOLY does pleurisy EVER HURT!! Ever single breath you take and even not when doing and inhale. When the doctor told me I had pleurisy, I said, "Isn't that what the Irish died from coming over on the ships from the famine!!" He laughed. I'd never heard of anyone having it until me! That winter, I had it multiple times and each time could tell the night before that the next day I'd be at the doc's getting a Z-pack. Oh, did it ever hurt. One of my bouts was so bad they wanted to put me in the hospital but I begged them not to. I'd go home and crawl into bed, take my meds and everything!

The bronchitis is a lot of painful coughing and neither disease if "fun" to have. I cannot imagine the pain of the combination!

Take care, get lots of fluids and take it easy!!

Other than THAT awful bit of news, it was a decent day - I had a lot of needy coworkers this morning, got them all helped before calling the doctor. We have had snow flurries all day and it has turned much colder. The kiddos are taking the dogs for their walk and they all have their matching green sweaters on (the dogs not the kiddos, lol).

The soup I had for supper did not touch how hungry I am so off to get something else to eat while the dogs are gone.
I think that he wants me to be close to family in case something happens to him.....

My Mom had pleurisy when she was around 15 years old and was always worried that we would come down with that as well.

You said No, but maybe DH thinks you do have an illness that you are keeping to yourself. I agree with others who have said you need to sit down and ask him what brought on this idea.
I had a bit of a talk with Hubby and I think he is more worried about what could happen to him, what with his enlarged heart. We will sit and have another talk a bit later and perhaps when we are up in the city for my specialist appointment have another talk and a trip around to see what various places cost. He joked about moving in with youngest son. Son does have a rather large and unfinished for the most part basement.

Update:

I had a lovely afternoon with my little Franki Boi! I was feeling rather down today as both of my chosen teams in yesterday's NFL games lost. So, hanging out with my little sweetie was good for me! The little stinker though! He STILL will not go poo outside on a leash! I walked him up the road, down the road around the yard again and nothing! I'm so nervous that he will poo on his mum's beautiful fluffy rug again.
Anyone have any suggestions on doggies and doing business #2? He was trained on puppy pads. He is fine to say, "Franki, go pee" and he will. The other? Nothing doin. I'll be mortified if he goes on his mum's rug again!

-------------------------------------------

Completely different topic. A difficult one for me.

The woman I go to the Soup Kitchen with asked if I would be a reference for her to volunteer with the local Youth for Christ Ministry. She had been going there for crafts and food (suppers) and had aged out of the program as it is for 12-29 year olds. I figured it would be a few questions and the usual, what do you view as a negative point and the regular jazz. NOOOOOO!

It was a 2 page "Confidential Recommendation Document." I looked it over and immediately developed anxiety hives. She is in NO WAY qualified to work in a youth Ministry program. She is a more likely candidate for their programs than a voluteer/example of leading a Christian life. This is the woman (30-years old) who told her mother before Christmas, "I hope your house burns down and you DIE!" because her mother encouraged her to get better treatment for her ezcema. She also had an argument with the neighbor in the apartment house and told him she wished he'd slip on the ice and crack his head open. UGH! And with going to the religious theme? She doesn't know the basic Bible stories (Jonah and the Whale) and has laughed at a friend who said she felt Jesus talking to her. She also told her friend "It's retarded to be that stupid!!" UGH! I gave her a big lecture on not EVER using the word retarded EVER. She made excuses and said, "Well it's only about really stupid stuff." I said, then say stupid but NEVER retarded.

I received this paperwork last week. I agonized over it. This woman admits to having a learning disability but she is also learning disabled. She has a vocabulary of a 6th grader. This causes a lot of problems because if she doesn't understand a word, she automatically thinks it means someone is angry at her or something and she gets angry. She was doing that to me and I finally told her I couldn't be her dictionary anymore and she had to use Google as many words had more than one meaning and it would make her more familiar with spelling and definitions. It hasn't been working all that well despite my repeatedly saying, "Check Google." I'm not asking her to look up insane polysylabic words. I once said in conversation, "Well, I'm pretty much self-contained." She wanted to know if that meant I was mad. She wanted to know what the word "contain" meant. I have to watch my words around her so as not to create problems that are unnecessary.

So, after much thought and prayer, I asked the person who sent me the forms to explain what Youth For Christ had as a mission and mandate. I got that this morning. I read through their entire website and saw no place that she could fit in as she has no interest in Christianity or being in a ministry (if she knows what that would mean). So, this afternoon, with thoughtful consideration to her abilities and to those who are participating in the programs Youth for Christ provides, I had to, for the first time EVER, provide a negative recommendation. That was very hard. I think it will be better for both parties involved.

I know, if they don't approve her as a volunteer, she will be angry. Youth for Christ assured me that she would in no way know who gave what as references and would never be able to access any files that would contain all of the confidential recommendations they received related to her. I know she will grill me like crazy over lunch but I will just reply that I answered it to the best of my ability and to her advantage. I think, she could do very well as a volunteer at the soup kitchen where their only mandate is to feed people in a comfortable and safe atmosphere.

I don't know how HR people do this! As an academic, I've done it for several students over the years but this was the first ever negative recommendation I ever gave and it had NO MALICE involved. UGH!

So, that was the icky part of my day. I have to pop it in the mail tomorrow or deliver it straight to their office.

I got home about 7 pm and am still under my electric throw trying to get the chill off of me! Maybe my planned supper of hot waffle fries all made fancy will do the trick!
