GGGRRRR Proffesnalies please be careful with your words

Post by icfrugal2 »

Last night at 11:42 pm, DH asked me to call 911, he said that he was having a heart attack.

911 took him to Kaiser.

The short story is that they had to put an incubating tube down his throat.

He has water in his lungs, among other things.

The ER dr told me that they had to put him in a Coma!!!!

Now, I don't have a medical background so the words "coma" scare me.

I was able to stay with him until he was taken to the ICU at 6:30am.

When I went in today, to the ICU they told me that DH was sedated !!!

Big difference people (in my mind) in Coma and sedated.

he was out of the sedation but still has the tube in, hopefully, it will be removed tomorrow.

They don't know yet if he had a heart attack, but he has water in his lungs, bad arteries in his heart and his kidney function is not good.

prayers needed, please

Prayers for you and your husband. Medically, I think those words basically mean the same when incubation is used. Over the yrs, I heard them a lot with my daughter. They have to put them out so they don’t wake up and struggle.

A drug induced Coma is normal during intubation and although scary sounding, is the proper term. They do this so your hubby doesn't struggle or move or affect the tube.

I'll be praying for you both today!

You and your husband are in my prayers. Please take care of yourself. It is so easy to overlook one's needs when a loved one is ill.
