Social Security and Medicare...

Post by Debbi64 » Mon Sep 07, 2015 6:52 pm

I read over at FaceBook that there will be no increases for Social Security this coming (2016) year...

Haven't heard whether Medicare is going to increase???

We did have a temporary scare ~ received a letter from our Supplemental Insurance Company informing us that there are many physicians and specialists and hospitals that will NOT be "accepting" their "coverage"! The letter was somewhat vague!!! Yes, monthly payments did go up a bit this year ~ but not that significantly!

My Honey called the Office and blessedly the hospital near us, and where all our Doctors "practice" is still working with our Insurance Company. Additionally, though we don't have too many physicians, they are all working with the Insurance Company too!

Last year, I read that a lot of hospitals in The Tampa Bay Area had ceased working with quite a few Insurance Companies and read that so many retirees were finding it difficult to find hospitals that worked with their physicians and vice versa. Whew!

Good luck to everyone that might be faced with changes in this coming year!

humana is being bought out I think to take effect in 16 Hope it still works for us and not go up. If the hospital takes it I think all our drs will as they are all associated with them. I think I read that medicare will go up. Hope I am wrong.

I am in the process of having to convert over to Medicare. That coverage will start on January 2 when I turn 65. Let the games begin!

I am staying with Kaiser too. Do I need to go over to Kaiser to get on their Medicare plan?

It would not hurt to call them, but they want to keep you, they will send you a "Senior Advantage" application it's just 6 pages, very easy.

I turn 65 in Oct and filled out my application in July for the Oct start.

You will need your Medicare in order to enroll, but if you don't have it yet, it should come any time now.

The envelope that the application comes in is a big one and says "this is an advertisement" on it, but I open everything so I didn't miss it.

Congratulations on turning 65 in Jan,

IC

PS YEAH for you!!!!
