So 1 800 got junk, gave me an estimate of $2,000.... I was thinking $500.

Needless to say, not right now.

If we want the new garage door I have to move stuff at least 10 feet away from the door. Part of the reason, i think , is that the door has a broken spring, which I did tell them when i called yesterday :x

I moved a month ago to a much smaller house. Had sooooooo much "stuff" left after decluttering, donating, etc., etc. My movers provided junk removal for a fee. I think some moving companies have this service whether you are moving or not. I had a huge truckload - think it WAS around $500.00.

You could put a small advert in your local newspaper:
FREE for the hauling. Household junk. Everything is at the curb - help yourself.

A friend of mine did this and someone asked how much would she charge if he took it all. So she just told him to pay what he felt it was worth and he handed her $1,000 cash and hauled it away.
