Good Morning Friends...oops - afternoon! It is a lovely day. Yesterday I had the BEST time. I am taking some Fridays off this summer and I had an actual honest to goodness DATE yesterday. Well sort of - my date had a work meeting in a town a couple of hours away. He picked me up at 5:00 a.m. -- YIKES!! and dropped me off at a shopping center while he went to his meeting.

I had a lovely time having coffee and breakfast alone in a new setting and as the morning went on, shops opened and it became the most beautiful day. I discovered a WONDERFUL vintage consignment store and some other lovely places. I bought a couple of items I couldn't resist (needed for work - so okay!!).

My date got to worrying about leaving me there as we got closer to the destination. I had to give him quite a talk about how I'm all grown up, etc. to get him to stop worrying and feeling bad about it. I wasn't going to go to his meeting and wait in the car!!!

When my date picked me up (after about 3 hours) we had a lovely lunch and then he drove us to a place where you can hike to some gorgeous waterfalls. We were both concerned about my knee so we took a "short" trail - about a mile to a waterfall - and had a nice hike. It did bother my knee some - so we took it slow - and HE ended up taking a fall on some slippery rocks...luckily he was not badly hurt!!

On the way home we stopped for ice cream and walked around a little touristy town. I had the BEST day and was home by 6:00 p.m.

My knee continues to heal - on its own terms - I have good days and bad days. Ten more weeks of physical therapy. Doctors say I can do what is comfortable and should not do what is not comfortable. I did walk (okay - LIMP) to the library today.

Off to see what the rest of the weekend brings. Be safe and well.

Hello All

i am feeling sluggish today, but will go out in a few minutes. I want to get a new alarm clock and look for a small birthday gift for Honorary Grandaughter to go along with money and a gift card. i also need a few groceries.

While I was volunteering at the hospital yesterday i got a few signatures from staff and volunteers on our 'save our seniors centre' petition. hope to get a few more in the next couple of days. I'll also be email the city councillor who is the Seniors Advocate. i'm sure he has already had many email from our members.

I had my niece over for supper last night. I hadn't seen her for awhile as she no longer lives in this neighbourhood. I gave her the leftovers of our meal as she is going to Europe next week and doesn't want to be buying more food before she goes.

Friend asked me if I wanted to go to a Met opera on screen today. i declined as I have already been to 2 fiims this week, and this one was rather expensive.

Take care,
AnneX

Good afternoon all,

We ended up getting the youngest grand last evening, staying the weekend and will be picked up Sunday afternoon. Mercyfull heavens she is busy LOL
This morning we went to a small free zoo and splash pad. Then to Panera bread for lunch and now home trying to relax before supper fixing at dads. Did I say She is Busy???? It has been raining again so not a lot of time at the splash pad. We all thoroughly enjoyed the baby goats and spent time letting them climb all over us. I keep thinking I need some but like some of you, someday I want to do some more traveling/trips and I have no one to look after the animals I have now let alone add more to the group. So I will just enjoy other peoples animals and that's that.

Supper is going to be boneless porkchops, candied sweet potatoes, seasoned green beans, breaded tomatoes and salad.

It is pretty obvious not much will be done around the house but oh well.
Have a great evening all,
JCKitty

Sheila good to hear from you.. so happy to hear your knee is improving.. It does take time and that is the frustrating part. My garden planting plans are put off for another day. We had a couple of severe storms roar through staring mid morning with the warnings.. There is still thunder off in the distance however it has cooled off nicely and I have the doors and windows open, lovely. I worked on a lot of paperwork sorting and organizing so the day has not been a total loss..

Planning on making a nice salad for dinner. Also will do some cooking ahead for tomorrow. Janet Alliesmama

Glad to hear everyone is having such a nice day. Rinty, you are so funny! And YAY! for discovering the extra cash coming to you. That is awesome. If you visit the U.S., come to the deep South and Texas in late October. It will seem warm to you and the trees should still have fall color.

I have been puttering around the house. Got a lot done yesterday on my day off: doctor visit, gassed up my car, trip to the bank, lunch with my radio station buddy, then grocery shopping and a trip to both Family Dollar (cat litter) and Ace Hardware (a step stool). In between I washed six loads of laundry.

Today I slept in. Gave the dogs a bath, washed their towels and collars (tied the collars up in an old pillow case and they came out clean with shiny tags), and then showered and washed my hair because I was covered in splattered dirty water from where they'd shake while being bathed. Hopped online and ordered some underthings online from One Hanes Place. Got five bras and six pairs of panties for the screaming deal of $90. My old stuff is so worn out that it's uncomfortable to wear.

DH is working on my office computer, trying to get the files on it transferred to the new one. The thing is so old that DS refers to it as the Babbage Engine. :-D Something I had forgotten in the years since I last worked for a religious organization: they never want to spend money on decent computers. But after it crashed on deadline two weeks running, they did buy a new one. But getting the files moved over is my problem. *sigh*
