Good morning fellow frugalites,

We got more snow and wind overnight and now it is doing it's darnedest to change to rain. Things are not going to be pretty outside today that's for sure. Creative seems to get our weather a day or two later, but this system seems to be spreading much more rapidly than usual. Oops did I say trying, it is raining right at this minute. I have a feeling we might (probably) will be missing Mass this morning.

I did not sleep at all well last night. First I tossed and turned trying to get comfortable, then once comfortable and I assume asleep I kept waking up. I ache all over and am very tired right now. Could be a lots of coffee day just to function properly.

I don't know if it was here I mentioned the churches hiring of a Youth Minister or not, and my gut feeling as to how long we would keep him. Well, I kind of figured a year (most people get 1 year contracts), well it turned out to be only 6 months..... I can't believe he came all this way and was only guaranteed 6 months of work!!! I knew he would not be here very long, and my gut feeling is a great deal has to do with "C". C started out as our youth coordinator and has gradually taken over every other postition available to the laity. Now she is our Pastoral Assistant (with no real training whatsoever), and does not like any competition for the priests favour in the office. Now, don't get me wrong personally I like "C", however working with her is a challenge that I wouldn't want to face again. I do feel for "T" as I have a feeling they did not give him a set of things he needed to accomplish in those 6 months, and knowing C, well she would not have helped much.

Frugally speaking I will be working around the house. I need to figure out a way to hang my whiteboard. It keeps falling down lately for some reason. Hope I can do so with the aid of Hubby. Might just have to add a picture frame thinging and a nail or some such to the wall.

I need to do some extra cleaning and I think getting the oven and stove clean and bright for the next month is the perfect job for today. No oven cleaner necessary, but I do have to use a special cleaner on the stove top.

Then I will work on my hand quilting during the afternoon, and during the evening perhaps the next months prayer shawl. Not too sure if there will be a prayer shawl meeting tomorrow because of the roads... Small city here with a limited (very limited) budget and only the main roads would be cleared for the first couple of days. The rest might be sanded, but not cleared. One of the ladies has to travel the highway into the city, and that highway is always trouble.

Other frugal happenings here will be the usual. I have decided to use the small square plastic containers that my nuts come in for something. What that something is I haven't quite figured out. I mean I got a flash as I was going to put it in the recycle bin of what they would be good for, and then promptly forgot what that was. I am sure it was something to do with organization though.

Meals will be produced with what we have on hand. Cleaning out the upright meat freezer was an eyeopener for me. We have enough meat to last us a very long time (at least as far as chicken and pork are concerned) and this needs to be used. Today Hubby offered to go and get chicken from the chicken place (we have coupons) but with the rain I think I will just roast one (need to get it out of the freezer). The leftovers will be packaged and added to those that need using up in the fridge freezer.

So now you know that supper will be roast chicken and probably roasted potatoes and carrots. Hubby bought some ice cream treats from the Dairy Queen yesterday and those will be our dessert (used a coupon so got them buy one box get one box free).

Today I am grateful that we are getting some more moisture this winter, even if it does make the roads treacherous.

Everybody have a great day. Take care.

Good morning ...
Sun's out and it's all of 5 degrees right now. Got a light snow last night.

Got the errands in yesterday ... the price was right on the register vents, but the color doesn't match the existing ones. So will keep looking/think on that.

Today, some chores I didn't get to yesterday and hopefully a bit of work on my projects.
The sausage/pasta dish was OK, but I'm not inclined to try it again. Today however, I will try my first beef roast ... we'll see how that goes.

Good morning everyone,

Awoke this morning to the coldest actual temperature we have had this year so far at -36 degrees C. We could hear the house buckling a little - definitely not a sound I like to hear but our homes are built to withstand such cold. The furnace is also working overtime so I'm glad dh got it serviced last week.

We will still be heading to the gym later but will give the car a longer time to warm up. We'll go in dh's car which is parked in the garage.

This morning I finished up the remainder of the laundry. It's all folded, ironed and put away for this week. Plan to clean the two piece bathroom before heading to the gym. It's looking a bit grimy and always easier to clean regularly.

I need to figure out a vegetarian option for dinner this evening. I'm veering towards some nice hot soup or maybe black bean quesadillas as I just finished up the potato leek soup. Or perhaps a lentil "meat loaf" from a Penzey's spice booklet. That would be a new recipe. Or maybe a vegetable curry - decisions, decisions!

Have a wonderful day everyone!
Creative

I washed my hair, I have a dress wash in the washer, then I need to wash towels. My daughter will be over later today to change my bed and pick up the computer to take in.

I made beef stew again, it was the only meal I thought I could prepare at this time. I used cut up stew meat, baby carrots, and potatoes.
