Good morning all.

A bit hot here today, but then it's summer.

Nothing really planned for today. Did my housekeeping chores, made my salads for the next week and a pot of stewed tomatoes and peppers. I haven't made stewed tomatoes in a while, so they will be a treat tonight.

No spending planned for today; but I am thinking about buying another air fryer to complement the 2.2 qt one I have. The one I'm looking at is a 3.7 qt and is large enough to fit in some accessories in order to maximize its use. Using it is a bit of a trial and error but I've had some success with chicken breasts, burgers and baked potatoes.

Well going to go for now.

Have a wonderful day.

Good morning all

Wow - surprised myself by sleeping in until almost 10:30! I did take the pups out at 8 or so. Went back to bed and figured i would wake up in time to maybe help with a church volunteer thing. Nope.

So i am having my coffee and will be getting ready to go to lunch.

We have added a lunch to our weekly schedule - lol. One of the breakfast group members has commitments but still wanted to meet, so why not.

Most of us are single/widowed or have spouses that do their own thing, so it can be hard to decide what to make to eat. This gets us out of the house also,

Hope all have a great day

Good afternoon ...

Like Kitty says, it's more comfortable outside today ...

Insurance company has officially declared the car to be totaled ...which set off another round of calls regarding plans to pick it up, getting the check, etc.

Quick run to the grocery to get a couple of things. (mostly yellow stickers as it turns out).

DH wants to get a new pair of sneakers tonight. Car shopping tomorrow ... Going to be a busy weekend.

Good afternoon everyone,

I kept busy today by running errands for Dh (trip to Home Depot and Home Hardware and baking. I made a Dutch apple cake with lemon sauce. I think the recipe was originally posted by Rinty in 2008! I’ve been intending on making it but only got around to it now. I had a piece for dessert and my it’s good! The lemon sauce is a nice touch too. I also made some unbaked chocolate cookies and ended up running to the grocery store for some coconut and cocoa. All those errands can be time consuming and for some reason the stores seemed to be teeming with people no matter where I went.

After cleaning up from lunch and all my baking dishes, I went for a short walk but by this time it was really hot and humid. So I’ve just been relaxing on the deck in the shade reading a book and chatting with Dh who had returned home from golf. Hopefully it won’t rain tomorrow and we can strip off the old stain from our deck and hopefully have it re stained by the end of next week. Always a great feeling getting those house projects taken care of.

Dinner will be fairly simple - making baked salmon for Dh and Dd . I think I’ll just steam some broccoli and cauliflower as our vegetable and have a bit of leftover kohlrabi. I’ll be finishing up the meatless pasta dish. We won’t have to say what dessert is! But think I’ll stick to cherries since I already had a piece.

Need to renew my library books. Going right now so I don’t forget.

Hello from Prince Edward Island!

My luck ran out weather wise and it has been an overcast day with on and off rain. Could be worse and I still enjoyed the scenery. This morning I drove over the Confederation Bridge which is 8 miles long and connects NB with PEI. It opened in 1997. Before that, the island was only accessible by ferry or air. There is no cost to drive onto PEI but a hefty toll to leave, $40-$45 Canadian I believe. (Need to check this amount.)

I first drove along the southern shore to a small, artsy town called Victoria. There is a summer theatre there that I would attend if I had more time. Some of the roads to get there (smaller route) were dirt or rather red clay. Interesting. (The road I used when I left was a regular paved road.)

Then I decided to drive to the capitol, Charlottestown. Big mistake. There was so much traffic and congestion and the historic area is crowded. I wanted to see the Provincial Legislature but it is totally under construction. I was unimpressed with Charlottestown.

I drove a different less congested route to get to my hotel - or I should say motel - on the west side of the island. It is an average-nice motel but what makes it is the setting on beautifully landscaped grounds. I think I got the best room with a small deck and full view of the water. Very reasonable at only $280 Canadian ($214 U.S.) total for two nights. (Owner and his family visit my area every winter. They stay at various beach communities just north of my closest beach. I recommended my friend’s family’s hotels 🙂 We talked quite a bit. This may be why I got such a good room.)

Tomorrow I plan to go to the Anne of Green Gables house and that area on the northern coast. The morning is supposed to be rainy but the forecast shows clearing in the afternoon. Fingers crossed.

I feel bad for Louisiana and the Florida Panhandle but I’m glad the hurricane isn’t coming my way.

Have a good evening.
