Good morning frugals. Looks like another month bites the dust. This year is just flying by so fast.

We had severe thunderstorms roar through here last night and now we are having flash flooding. This has been the worst year for rain and flooding in our area since I think the flood of '93. Feel sorry for all of those who are trying to get things cleaned up and repaired and then still get more rain and flooding.

Not much planned for today or this week-end other than puttering around the house and cooking.

Have a good day and a great holiday week-end everyone.

Agree, Janet.

The end of August always sees me sentimental.

Yesterday we were on the beach looking at a particular view that is always my "end of summer " view. Today , when DH went out I had a few tears ;)

He has come back with the traditional HUGE bags of Produce, but today I've decided to welcome it especially as the courgettes appear to be flagging ( thank goodness !) he brought back toms, yellow courgettes, a LOT of potato and three really nice looking cucumbers...........I did not know we were growing cucumbers !

I have been in Bedroom 3 aka Craft room/study doing an enormous amount of shredding. Done two loads washings, hung to dry. gave DH lunch.

We chased down oldest DGS , presuming as we hadn't heard about his exam results that they weren't what he'd hoped for :( They weren't great sadly, he might need to do a few retakes.

Got a bill re DS and paid it immediately.

We have two birthdays in September, simple, bouquet for one, cash for the other. No brainers and done by next weekend ! Already been booked for childcare ( including weekends !) thru September ;) I want to see if I get my DB to visit us and use his Handyman Mad Skillz in the October half term.............he built his own home and did lots of the renovations that my DM and stepfather did in all their homes..........hes taken redundancy and is taking a few months "off". I'd like to use his plumbing Skillz if hes amenable. DH and I plan to repaint the kitchen and living room then.

Anyway, Craft Club will restart soon and this session will go thru to Christmas so a lot of it will be Christmas Crafting. I signed up ( was press-ganged ) into doing after school club support. ( blah ) Only thing is it is basically another weeks pay to the monthly paycheck..........so that a no brainer straight to savings chunk 'o cash.

I am trying to talk myself into Summer being done and moving on.....not there yet ;)

Dinner was supposed to be sausage casserole with apples..........

Hello all.

It looks like my area has dodged the bullet of Hurricane Dorian. Fingers crossed. Maybe the storm will even stay offshore and the Atlantic coast of Florida will escape.

I plan to stay home and watch skating and Billions. I have a free 7-day Showtime trial that ends tomorrow.

Have a good day.

Glad the storm has missed you, take care as you never can tell with a hurricane.

The end of summer and here the start of school. Noticed empty shelves at the grocery so stocking up for children's lunch boxes must have been taking place.

Lucky you if we did anything extra like helping after school for say the Christmas Concert, or things of that nature it was considered volunteer, meaning no extra pay.

Good morning fellow frugalites,

I have been up for awhile now, and even had part of a post composed. I then proceeded to hit the wrong combination of keys, or drag my wrist (or even could have been my sleeve) over the mousepady thing and pouf my post disappeared. Perhaps one day I will get the hang of using this machine properly.

Any how let's see how much I remember.

Usual frugal practices happening around here. I will be heading out to the herb beds to pick sage and thyme soon. Then I will be popping them into the dehydrator. Plants need watering at some point today, and I will be making a run to the Salvation Army with some items (yes!!!! more out of the house).

Hubby should be finished painting the hallway as some point today. What with us moving some of the items in the entry way we should actually make the entry way appear a bit more spacious. That is something I have been trying to achieve for awhile now.

Once the painting is done and youngest DS is home, Hubby and I will go out and choose between the two sets of living room furniture and 4 choices of carpet (yes he does get a say in what goes in, but only a small say...he does need to like or be willing to let the choice grow on him.

Other than those specific chores there are only a couple more. Then I get to do some sewing (items stored in there from the hallway namely curtains and a few pairs of shoes) has made sewing kind of rough, I took a break yesterday and did some knitting instead. I hope to finish the bodice of the dress (meaning get the sleeves in) and get the skirt sewn as well. Not sure if my patience will hold to attaching the waistband, but I should also be able to get the ties at least sewn.

Since it is the end of the month I will update all of you on my no spend total. Including today I will have had 8 allowable spend days and 23 no spend days. Very happy with those numbers.

Supper this evening will be a steak casserole, so I must remember to get the steak out of the freezer early. Well it will be a casserole if Hubby does not offer to BBQ. He is having a bit of trouble heating up our propane BBQ, the last time this happened youngest DS was home and fixed it, hopefully since he is home once again he can figure out what is happening.

Today I am grateful for the bountiful harvest we are having from the garden, and the bountiful harvest we will still have closer to the middle of next month.

Everybody have a great day. Take care.
