Thank you everyone for your input - I will be checking every one of your suggestions out. Please keep them coming - I don't know why I'm struggling with these decisions - I don't want to just randomly pick something - I want to know what I want - if that makes any sense.
maybe a toaster oven instead of just a toaster?

Sandi - do you have a Keurig?

We use ours for coffee and just hot water for tea

No; I could never get into the idea of the single-use plastic pod things. When we make coffee we make about 6-8 cups at a time.

They recommend that you get a new gasket every year - even if you haven't use it. It can dry out. One piece of advice I would take - lol
She lives alone now, doesn't use the pressure cooker anymore.

I once thought like you, lol, but once I received my Keurig as a gift I couldn't imagine ever going back to a basic coffee maker like the ones I'd used for a lifetime. If you can't justify buying the K-Cups, get the permanent cup that you refill each time with your coffee of choice.

Jodi, I have never had an odor in water heated in the microwave. I've never even heard of odors being transferred in a microwave. Has anyone else had this experience?
