Daily Check In February 27, 2021

Off to get coffee. Back in a moment or three as I struggle with this pot in the hotel room.

Good morning fellow frugalites,

I am up and in very little pain today. Eating lots of high fiber foods and drinking water until I am waterlogged. I am still considering staying in the city one more night, but am not entirely sure. I don't sleep well in strange places (and even though this is our usual hotel when we stay here, it is still strange), and I really need to wash my hair.....no place here to do so. It also depends on the weather situation.

I do know Hubby will leave it up to me and youngest DS would prefer me to stay in the city close to the bigger hospital and nearer my specialist.

I figured something else out today (or rather later last evening) I have no back ache and very little hip ache anymore. Strange.

Off to have another coffee, and perhaps one of the apples I brought from home.

Talk to you all later when I make my decision on whether to stay here one more day or not.

Everybody have a great day. Take care.

Good morning beautiful people,

How wonderful Jackie that your back and hip pain seems to have abated. But if you’re taking pain relief, it could be a result of that. Please take the advice of all your friends here and rest up. The decision of whether to stay another night at your hotel or whether to return home is a difficult one.

For my Canadian friends, my Giant Tiger curb side pickup went very smoothly. The only drawback is that you’re unable to order perishables such as fresh fruits and veggies, dairy, bakery goods, frozen items or meats. The service was very speedy for me and delivered the next day to the store. They send you an email when ready and you must pick your stuff up within 14 days. They packed everything of mine in boxes - did pack the Tide with some canned corn and pasta sauce. Not really an issue but if with cereal, I would not have liked it as it would absorb the odour of the soap. I can easily see myself use it again as they do have very good specials. No service fee either.

Today I will be concentrating on laundry and plan to make some potato leek soup. Dh will be cooking the whole chicken in some manner and I will come up with some sides. Dd2 plans on just resting today after many hours of overtime last week.

I think I will either snowshoe or cross country ski at our neighborhood park for exercise. Our city is going under complete lockdown effective Monday including the closure of schools to remote learning for an indeterminate amount of time. We had 60 new cases in one day yesterday so measures definitely need to be taken. Dh and I will start to wear face shields while running, as it’s not always possible to separate along a busy stretch of the road. We both wear glasses so fogging is a big issue at times. I have tried a mask cup but didn’t find that really helped. I am getting fatigued but we need to be vigilant now more than ever. Dh is eligible to receive the vaccine May 1st, me not until July 1st. I miss out in June by one day! ( must be 65 or older). Dd2 will hopefully get hers by the end of March, since she works in a hospital setting. They have finally started vaccinating all the direct care workers and doctors at the hospital.

I wish you all a wonderful day!

Good morning friends.

Jackie, I’m glad that you are not in much pain and that your surgery is behind you.

I slept SO good last night. Pippi’s sedative was still in her system so she was quiet. She ate really, really good yesterday. I believe the appetite enhancer is working. (Patti, I think that when Pippi throws up - and it doesn’t happen often - she has been eating dry food in the night. Her throw ups are always at night.)

This afternoon I plan to go to mom’s house to do something. I’ve decided that next week I’ll go to one of the garden shops. Too crowded to go on the weekend. So today I’ll likely clean out a few pots.

I know that Hulu is not a very popular streaming service. But I’m really enjoying Mrs. America. Although the focus is Phyllis Schlafley, the series is really about the women’s movement and the whole era of the 70s.I was in college during that time so was not paying close attention to a lot of what was going on.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Lovely Friends. Jackie, I am so happy to hear you aren't having a lot of pain and hope that continues to be the case.

I am tired today and my arm hurts from my first COVID shot yesterday. All good. In my travels yesterday, I stopped at an Aldi about 30 miles from home (boss's permission granted - I was off the clock for my shot). I only grabbed a few things to keep at work for lunches as I was in a hurry - but saw so many good buys. I believe my daughter and I are going to go back to that town today and hit up Aldi and Walmart and another store. I am so over the high prices in our little town and our Save A Lot is nothing to write home about.

Warmer temps today but windy and no sun. I'll take it. I'm off to get ready for the day and get some things done while my daughter is still asleep. She has been such a blessing to me, helping me get my car started and deal with a pretty stressful couple of days.

Have a Happy Saturday!

Good morning all,

Jackie, rest and take life easy....so glad your surgery went well. Do you have a follow up appointment?

i have been up and just trying to get with it, chickens are fed and watered...ewwww their pen is ucky/muddy but they don't seem to mind at all.

Need to pick DD up and make a trip to town, she needs more gatorade and jello. By the time she is over this ulcer flare she will not want jello again.

I need to let the woodstove burn out today and take out ashes, Supposed to get into the 50's so yayyy.
This mild weather gives me Spring fever so bad, but March in like a lamb and out like the lion and all that
After our trip to town I will refill bird feeders and try to walk the property. I do know I have a lot of sticks to pick up this year...winter damage and deer damage.

Should be a mellow day, I need reading material...."might" chance a trip to the library.
