Good morning frugal folks,

Today will be a busy day. I had planned to visit the chiropractor this morning, but I decided to put it off. I was in a bit of discomfort yesterday after trimming hubs toenails. In order to do that, I have to get into a difficult position and my knee didn't like it and complained. Well, the back of the knee was aching after, so I sat my thick ice under the knee as I sat on a chair. And the knee went pop. The knee stopped hurting. So I think I can get along a few more days.

I do want to go to the store and get hubs his cheese. I actually have a fairly long list to buy from Walmart market where I get his cheese, so it will be a productive trip. This afternoon, the yard guy comes. And I know I will be on my feet with him here. Hopefully, I will not harm my knee.

Hubs needed his toenails trimmed. He can't do that himself. So I soaked his foot in warm soapy water to soften the nails and then used a proper nail trimmer, then an emery board and buffer. Several of the nails are pretty poor looking. The foot doctor (staff) will trim them for $50. That is just too expensive for us. And it is not what I call a good job. His feet are very sensitive as well, so the warm water soak is as close to washing as I can get.

This weeks grocery store ads are still poor. So I will have to see if I can stretch food a bit. I will probably hit Save a lot tomorrow and look for discounted meat.

Today, I am grateful that the knee popped back into place. Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all.

Looks like we've got sun coming for these next two days and warmer temps.

Hope all are well. Wish I were better. Sister at it again over stupid nonsense. Wanted to argue with me over my saying I was going to start writing checks to her daughter in July instead of August in a conversation we had two days before. She just had to fight with me and say "but you said" over and over again and I asked politely a couple of times to change the subject because it was over something stupid so she yelled at me "you're forgetting things", said she wasn't calling me again and slammed the phone down on me. And when I tried to clarify the difference between a lie and a misunderstanding because "she" always thinks that people think she's lying all she did was throw out a second old excuse to keep the pot burning. Oh well. This time I'm going to let it go. If she doesn't want to talk to me again I can't force her. All she does is complain about everyone and everything anyway. She doesn't understand that her issues with people are actually of her own doing. She argues with her husband, her daughter and me now. I don't find myself in any type of argument with anyone but her. She is clinically depressed and needs help but she'll never admit she has a problem so I truly feel sorry for her.

I however have decided I'm getting too old to deal with her treatment of me. I have never been rude or inconsiderate of her feelings and I've never disrespected her or slammed a phone down on her. I've talked with her every time she called regardless of what I was doing and listened to her every gripe. The way I look at it, I've given my sister her share of what would have been her inheritance the last 10-12 years. From here on in, what is mine is going to be mine to do with what I please. I'm looking into a living trust, not an irrevocable one. If I should need to go to a nursing home, then my funds are going to cover the cost. If there's anything remaining, I will provide something for my niece's little boy and the rest to St. Judes Hospital, a charity I have respected for many years.

Got scared yesterday. Had eye follow-up and then stopped at Walmart's for a while to pick up an order. As it was almost 11:30 by the time I finished shopping and I hadn't eaten anything I stopped at a Burger King. I had barely taken 3 bites of food and I felt myself getting light-headed, queasy and like I was going to pass out. The moment did pass after between 3 - 5 minutes, but it left me feeling chilled and sweaty. When I felt somewhat better, I tossed what I hadn't eaten (sorry I did that, should have taken it) and drove home and stopped at drug store for more drops. Sent an email to my doctor but haven't heard back from her yet.

Today I'm going on a bus trip to Newburgh with one of the town rec departments. We'll have lunch at a place called The River Grill and then go on a 2 hour boat cruise. I'm looking forward to some fun.

I also made an appointment to have my car serviced on Friday, but this one will be a big one price-wise I'm afraid as it is a 3 hour service. They will be giving me a loaner car for the time but I'm hesitant about that. Regular service is 5000 miles which is typically twice a year, but since I've had the car I've driven it only 5000 miles a year most of the time, but for the last 2 less than 2000 miles. I have only 35,000 miles on my 2011 Camry. She said that based on car's age actual service mileage would be approx 60,000 miles so that's the one they will do. The car will be 8 years old next month. Have to keep the car in tiptop shape as I don't want to have to buy another.

Oh well, going to go for now. Have a great day everyone.

I understand about car expense, Logic. Mine is a 2010. It came used with 35,000 miles on it in 2011 and now it has 50,000. I am just nursing it along. A couple of minor things are wrong with it and I am not fixing them. Every time, I take it in for something major, it is $500. So it has to be a major issue to visit the shop.

Good morning fellow frugalites,

We got a bit of rain overnight and I forgot to bring the chair cushions in ( usually do when rain is forecast). Oh well, hopefully they all dry fairly quickly, they will be brought in tonight though as the next 3 or 4 days are supposed to be very rainy. Too bad as fishing season opens and youngest DS and Hubby usually spend a day out bonding over hooks, lines and rods. Gives me a day all to myself.

Frugal happenings around here will be the usual. I hope to get some sewing done this afternoon as I have no where I plan to be (other than a short walk to get the mail). I have too many projects on the go and need to get some completed before the end of this month. Having small piles of things around the house is beginning to get to me. However the sewing/craft room is coming right along and hopefully will be even cleaner in a couple of months. I am finding myself able to let go of a few more items each year that I do a major declutter of the room. Still have way too many patterns but perhaps next year I will be willing to let go of even more (or perhaps even at some point this year).

I have been looking at the little re-usable bags they are advertising for produce and think that if I could find a relatively inexpensive sheer curtain or two I could make my own. They could be closed with a nice ribbon threaded through a casing and tied. May check out the thrift stores here and see what I can find.

Meals, will as is usual be made with what is on hand. So many bits and bobs are in the fridge or fridge freezer, I think we could eat very well for a week or more. My shopping list will be made today and I will be shopping the fliers and looking for coupon matches. We don't get many coupons in my province so the hunt can take a bit of time.

The evening will be spent making those small knitted squares. I found some more of the finer yarns to use up, just a few small balls. I am hoping to be finished all of these by the end of this month so I can start on some of the small worsted weight balls. These could end up being two very wildly coloured blankets. The work is portable and quick though and that makes me happy at this point in time.

Supper tonight will be leftover Baked Spaghetti along with a salad. Lunch will be some other leftovers that are taking up room in the fridge.

Today I am grateful that there were no cute bunnies eating our freshly planted grass this morning.

Everybody have a great day. Take care.

Our car is just over 5 years old and has about 27,000 miles on it (converted from kilometers). We very rarely go on long trips so unless we need to start traveling to the capital more to see specialists we should/would probably have the same milage as you when ours is 8 years old. Mind you it might be time to get something new if Hubby has his way.
