The scammers must be having a busy day. I got two e-mails today one from Saudi Arabia This is the e-mail.

I am Salim Omar from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia working with the corruption probe panel you will understand what is going on presently in our Kingdom . So far we have arrested over 200 people (the Prince, Ministers and Government officials) from which we have also recovered over a $200 billion dollars from some of the corrupt officials in total. I have $100m deposited in a bank in Europe and I want you to help me claim the funds. I shall give you more info if you get back to me

We know what's going to happen here, that check is going to bounce higher than a kite and my bank account will be charged with a fee because it bounced.

The second one was from Netflix (bogus of course) This is the content of the e-mail.

L'equipe Netflix

My son gives me my Netflix service for Christmas from his account. I have never subscribed to Netflix so there would be no need for updating my payment information.

I got one last week from Fedex which is also a scam. This is the link to that site.

I had been doing pretty good, hadn't received one in a long time. We have to stay on our toes all the time. Never, Never, Never do you click on a link that wants you to update an account. Go immediately to your account site, that is secure and see if you have a message on there to do anything. I wonder how many dollars that unsuspecting victims lose each year to these operations and the scammer is never caught. Anybody else getting these?

I usually get weird phone calls.

I will text that I am not available.

If it comes back that "this number is not recognized" - I will block it.

But since I am the contact point for selling the parental home, I just wait for them to leave a message.

I would hate to have a careet that meant I had to answer every single phone call - real estate agent for example. I guess they would carry two phones?

The "IRS Agent" who called yesterday told me in his oriental accent that the would send the police to my house and take me to live in jail if I did not send in the amount owed. I told him to be sure they brought a lot of guns and men. I cannot believe there is not someway they cannot stop this overseas spam.

We get a lot too. They go to the answering machine. I do monitor them in case it is a real call. During the kitchen remodeling, the workers would call using their own phones and hang up when I didn't pick up. I constantly told the contractors that their men needed to say who they were with before I would pick up. Didn't happen much. I also would ask them who they were with before letting them in the house. I am glad the remodel is over. I also get many survey calls and charity calls. None are answered. 6-8 calls a day on average.

There's a guy who makes a comedic living out of answering scam email and seeing how far down the rabbit hole he can take the scammers, some of his spots (you tube) are HILARIOUS. There's one where he actually got email asking him to leave THEM alone  . He did a Ted Talk:

I don't have the creativity necessary to engage spammers (and apparently my service provider has excellent filters, because I never get any  ).

He does tell people, if you're going to engage them, use a junk email address.
