what is a "skivvy"?
I just had to look it up as I'm used to the word "skivvies" for underwear.

The first definition was 'female domestic servant.'

The second definition was worse.

Third was a close-fitting long sleeved t-shirt with a rolled collar.

I'll take number 1 for the win.
You win. That is 9pretty much the meaning we use for the word up here in Canada.

Mrs Creative and sandi,

I sometimes feel like a skivvie also then Sandi gave the definition....wait, I want a female domestic help , not to be one. LOL

I think that may be why I have some down days, I feel unappreciated but....not by my dad. Just in general....
Having take out pizza tonight because I need a break from menu planning and cooking.

I have been busy this afternoon, took a nap and feel somewhat perkier. Maybe I should just plan a daily nap as a "pick-me-up"

Kitty, just wondering if Dad knows how to cook at all? I know you want to check on him everyday and wait on him as much as you can, but if he could do his own meals a couple days a week it would give you a break.

We all need something to do to keep us active and feeling useful. I know if he knew you needed a little break he might be glad to do that if he's able. I don't know what his general health is, but if he's still able to live alone it must be fair. Just a thought!

I know women can feel unappreciated at times.

I try to compare what I do at home to what the COD does. Sure I might do some cooking and cleaning daily, but compared to the hot filthy jobs he takes on here at home - no thank you,

I do not like to cut grass or wash my car.

Now if you are doing EVERRYTHING not fair at all.

Having to do it all yourself really does make one feel unappreciated. I never dreamed how much DH did until he was no longer here. Things that you don't give them much credit for until you are having to do it all yourself. I thought I was keeping myself more focused when I started using a list again, until yesterday when I looked at it and became overwhelmed.

I do feel in the long run the list will keep me focused and like I did today, I am going to concentrate on one project and finish it before I start anything else. I was looking at what all I had to do, not focusing on one thing. I have no business trying to keep up this big house alone, but I love it and this is the price I have to pay.

My yard guy is about to be history and it really looks like I will have to find someone else. He still hasn't come this week and that upsets me to no end. If it weren't for two spots I could do it myself and it is actually easier to mow than to be upset because someone isn't doing what they say they will. I can't stand that. My DD warned me that I would be unhappy with him before the season started.

I don't mind the mowing the grass or washing the car. At least my dealership details it for me when they service it and I can easily vacuum out the inside and rinse off the dust. With mine staying in an enclosed garage all the time I have noticed it doesn't get very dirty. I don't like to but I could drive it through a carwash if I had to.

Good Evening everyone,

Goodness, with my new team lead position, I have been pretty busy at work. But that is good. Then I get my walk in and am tired, so not getting to my quilt. It will be a ate Wedding gift. I should have time to work on it this weekend. DDIL invited us for dinner tomorrow to celebrate DS1 and My Dad for Father's Day.

Ex returns tomorrow and the boys will spend Sunday with him as is right. The other night was talking to DS2 about the quilt and trying to iron it. He said he'd bring over the ironing board. It as jsut sitting at Ex's house. He brought it in and said "Dad said you can keep it" Ok, now where to store it. But I will use it.

DGFlorida, start the darn check in when you get up. No big deal when it is started. Too early or not. It is not a race to see who starts it, there are no prizes involved. LOL!

Have a nice evening.
Maggie
