Chili powder is one of those must-have spice blends, but did you know you can make it yourself? Yep, you sure can, and today I’m going to show you how. I’ll start by showing you how to make a big batch – it should be enough to get you through all those fall and winter recipes. Then, I’ll show you how to make just enough for a recipe or two. Let’s get started!

Big-Batch Chili Powder Recipe
Ingredients:
6 Tablespoons paprika
2 Tablespoons oregano
2 Tablespoons garlic powder
2 Tablespoons Cayenne pepper
2 Tablespoons cumin
1 Tablespoons onion powder
What You Do:

Measure out all of your ingredients. Try not to kick up too much paprika or Cayenne pepper dust. Hot peppers = lots of sneezes. I used store-bought Cayenne pepper this time, but I plan to use my own ground hot pepper in future batches.

Stir all the spices together. Go slowly, to avoid sneezing.
Then, transfer your finished chili powder to a jar. This recipe makes just under a cup, so it fits nicely in a half-pint jar. You may need to tap the jar on the counter a few times to make room for the last little bit.
