Homemade Granola

Granola is outrageously expensive to buy, but so easy to make. Here’s my tasty, no-junk recipe for homemade granola.

Homemade Granola Recipe

Cook Time:

40 minutes

Ingredients:

2 cups oats
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup nuts (almonds, pecans, etc.)
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 cups dried fruit (raisins, cranberries, chopped apricots, etc.)

What You Do:

Combine the Oats, Coconut and Nuts

Combine the oats, coconut and nuts in a large bowl.

Combine Honey and Oil

In a separate bowl, whisk the honey and oil together.

Pour Honey Mixture Over Granola Mixture

Pour the honey-oil mixture over the dry mixture, and stir to combine.

Place Granola in Oven

Transfer to a baking sheet, and bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes. Stir every 10-15 minutes to prevent burning.

Add the Fruit to the Granola

Stir in the fruit, and allow it to cool. Store in an airtight container.

Homemade Granola Recipe

Save money by making your own granola. Here’s a simple granola recipe that you can customize to your tastes. Only five minutes of hands-on time required.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 6 cups 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups oats
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup nuts (almonds, pecans, etc.)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cups dried fruit (raisins, cranberries, chopped apricots, etc.)

Instructions

Combine the oats, coconut and nuts in a bowl.

In a second bowl, whisk the honey and vegetable oil together.

Pour the honey-oil mixture over the dry mixture. Stir well to coat evenly.

Spread the mixture out on a cookie sheet, and bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes. Stir every 10-15 minutes to prevent burning.

Stir in the fruit, and allow your granola to cool. Store in an air-tight container to keep it fresh.

Notes

Good with milk, as a yogurt topping or eaten by the handful.
