Homemade Yellow Cake Recipe

Forget the box mix. Here’s how to make a yellow cake from scratch.

Ingredients:

  • 1 homemade yellow cake mix (recipe on MyFrugalHome.com)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 stick of butter, softened
  • 11/4 cup milk
  • 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

Pour cake mix into mixing bowl.

Cut butter into smaller pieces, and add to mixing bowl. Work butter into flour, until it’s well integrated.

Beat eggs. Then, add vanilla to eggs. Pour egg mixture into flour, and mix to combine.

Slowly add milk, and mix just until the batter comes together.

Butter and flour your cake pan(s).

Then, pour the batter into the pan(s), and bake at 350 degrees. 30 minutes for a 13×9″ cake; 28 minutes for two 8×8″ or two 9×9″ cakes.

Allow cake(s) to cool for at least 10 minutes before removing from the pan.

  • This recipe will make (1) 13×9″ cake or (2) 8×8″ or 9×9″ cakes.
