Have a hole in one of your window screens? Keep the bugs out with a simple patch job. Here’s how:
What You’ll Need:
A Self-Stick Screen Repair Kit or a roll of Window screen repair tape.
A small brush (an old toothbrush is perfect)
A damp cloth or sponge
What You Do:
Gently brush the screen surface surrounding the tear to remove any debris.
Then, wipe the area with a damp cloth or sponge, and allow it to dry.
Cut your patch down to the size you need; peel the backing off; and place it over the tear. Apply gentle pressure in a circular motion to set the patch.
Re-install your window screen, and you’re all finished!
Tips:
- Window screens come in gray and charcoal. Be sure to get the patch kit that matches your screens
- Screen repair tape is a better buy, if you have several screens to patch
How do you get the patch to stick if you don’t use the self sticking kit?
I’ve always just used the self-sticking type. Works like a charm.
Use a thin layer of household cement around the edges.
