How to Store Plastic Bags

I keep reusable bags in the trunk of our car to cut down on the number of plastic bags that enter our home, but we still end up with a fair number. Those get put to good use as trash bags, but in the meantime they can be a pain to store. I’ve tried store-bought bag holders; I’ve tried baskets; I’ve tried all sort of things, but nothing has ever been big enough to do the job well. So, I did what I always do in these situations: I invented my own solution.

To create a real world-sized plastic bag organizer, I grabbed a 12-inch embroidery hoop and a pillowcase from my linen closet. Then, I simply put the embroidery hoop around the opening of the pillowcase to create a bag that would stay open at all times, and hung it from the metal screw of the hoop. It works brilliantly, and it took less than five minutes to put together.
