Next time you tackle the torturous task of decluttering your kids’ rooms, don’t toss all of those little kids’ meal toys and cereal box prizes in the trash. Instead, gather them up, and save them until Halloween. They make a fun (and free) replacement for Halloween candy.
I keep a bushel basket in my gift closet for this purpose, and it’s always been a hit with my trick-or-treaters.
I’ve also been known to dip into my basket anytime I have a birthday pinata to fill or my kids’ teachers ask for items to refill the classroom treasure chest.
