Our Tennessee Home

For 20 years, my family and I called this Tennessee craftsman home.

This is what the house looked like when we bought it. My husband and I removed the aluminum siding and painstakingly restored the original wood siding and beadboard porch ceiling. It was an insane undertaking, but it completely transformed the exterior of the house.

Creating a Garden for the House

Landscaping the yard also made a big difference. With only a few dying azaleas and overgrown hollies, we were basically starting with a blank slate. And that was a lot of fun for me.

Over time, we added privacy plantings, fruit trees, a brick patio, oodles of garden beds and this awesome treehouse. Our family spent so much time in this treehouse.

The Unexpected Happens

Then, one day our neighbor’s tree fell on our house, and suddenly we found ourselves in the middle of a major renovation project. It took us 17 months to get back into our house. It was an extremely difficult time for us, but at the end of it, we had a fully-restored house to go home to.

We enjoyed living in our house for another 11 years, before deciding to sell it to move to France.
